The Wellspring

You are, indeed,
The greatest woman I've ever known...

I talk to you, but have never seen you,
I dream of you, and have never held you,
I pray for you, I worry for us...

No good thinking,
My worthless dreams,
My aspirations,
My dead desires...

All the words I write bring me no closer to you,
I've considered walking full-on and into death,
Countless times before....

Things have changed with you now in my life,
The difference is that death,
Will now have to take me by force...

But when my final day comes,
I only now wish,
My last word is breathless to you...

I now only pray,
My final moment is spent,
Wrapped tightly by your arms...

I've explored and now I understand,
My feelings for you are not forced,
I care,
I feel,
I know,
I love.
